Project Togo

Tuijtel’s clients who compensate the CO2 emissions of their order do so via project Nederland PLUS or project TOGO. Nederland PLUS is in ‘our own backyard’, but Togo is in West Africa. Not next door. Since the start of the project, more than a million trees have been planted in Togo, and at the same time the lives of the people in the villages have improved. Four water wells have been built, school buildings refurbished, toilet facilities and a community centre constructed, and football pitches planted. At the same time, young people are learning a trade. In this way, they can earn money in their own village and provide for themselves. This prevents them from moving to the city in search of work and possibly ending up in the criminal circuit or being absorbed into the stream of refugees. Another advantage: in the villages, not only the elderly will remain. Without young people, the project would come to an end after a while.

Project Togo

Schooling is therefore an important aspect. The villagers are taught how to run a tree nursery, how to plant a forest and how to maintain it. There are also trainings that teach the population the trade of beekeeper and shepherd. NatureOffice introduces all activities in Togo first on a small scale and only when the population itself embraces the activities, the project is further expanded.

We are proud that we, together with our clients, contribute to this special project in Togo. Every time our clients choose project Netherlands PLUS or project TOGO, a contribution is made to Togo.
